About 8 years ago I read my first book on “Emotional Intelligence” written by Daniel Goleman. I’ve learned a great deal about the way I handled my emotions from Dr. Goleman’s books. It goes without saying, children can also improve the way they manage their emotions, if we adults show them the way.
Teaching a child how to handle emotions is a gift that keeps on giving. When children do not learn to handle their emotions- well, just think about that for a minute…
- What happens when a toddler, scholar (toddlerscholar) behaves poorly?
- What developmental opportunities are altered ?
- And how does one proactively respond in order to find a true resolution?
It is rather easy to allow unchecked emotions to dictate the next word said or the next action taken. EQ is about helping people to become present emotionally so they can better mange their feelings and improve their relationships. A Toddler and a Scholar are both deeply focused on learning. Considered separately, they are the extreme of each other. Meshed together, they become a force to be reckoned with!
ToddlerScholar.com will do our best to equip you with resources that support healthy academic, emotional (social) development. More is to come from Toddlerscholar on EQ. Visit us again soon-
